Life with Braces

Congratulations! You are one step closer to having a beautiful smile. We are excited that you chose us to walk through this journey together. Here is what you can expect to experience after your braces are placed.

Soreness/Mild sensitivity

You will have general soreness and even mild sensitivity of your teeth within a couple of hours after the braces are bonded to your teeth. This type of pain is generally very mild and not harmful to you, so you should not worry too much. However, we recommend eating a soft-food diet while taking an over-the-counter pain reliever for the first few days for your comfort. If you are having ulcers inside your cheeks where braces are rubbing, you can use a small amount of wax given to you in the Initial Oral Hygiene Packet just to ease the pain until your soft tissue gets used to the braces. Excessive saliva is also a normal occurrence after placement of your braces. If you are experiencing mild loose teeth, don’t worry too much! Mild mobility of teeth is expected throughout your orthodontic treatment. Once braces are removed, your teeth should stabilize and become less mobile.
